Abstract

Anti Americanism has been a prominent issue ever since the creation of United States of America in general and after 9/11 in particular. Several definitions and theoretical frameworks have been presented to highlight the true nature of Anti-Americanism. This paper will discuss Anti-Americanism in the light of survey research conducted after 9/11and with a new theoretical framework of erosion of sovereignty. It is the erosion of sovereignty of the states and ultimately of the people that lies at the core of Anti-Americanism. Though historical background will not be neglected but the focus will be on the current scenarios and events that have provided impetus to the Anti-American feelings in different parts of the world. Moreover, anti-Americanism in the Muslim World will be the primary focus of the study along with a generalized explanation for other regions of the world. The study is supported by statistical data collected through various sources. The study is delimited to the period from 2001 to 2010.
